Web Seminar Recap: RFID and Its Applications in Manufacturing

On November 30, 2005, MERC hosted a web seminar entitled, RFID and Its Applications in Manufacturing, featuring Mark Probasco from EDS.

During this web seminar, Mark shared information on how RFID works and how RFID is one of four components of "Edge Technologies." He also discussed RFID's current state, including spending on this technology, implementations for RFID technology, and barriers to RFID.

Mark demonstrated the many applications of RFID technology throughout the production and transportation processes in a slide show entitled A Day in the Life of a Gallon of Milk. Mark wrapped up the presentation by sharing five RFID technology case studies.

Attendance for this web seminar was at full capacity and participant feedback indicates this web seminar was both interesting and informative.

MERC will host a follow up to this web seminar entitled How to Implement RFID in Your Courses in late January.
