MERC Online Guide for AuthorsThe Manufacturing Education Resource Center (MERC Online) provides professionals in manufacturing education and related fields the opportunity to share educational materials and resources covering content and pedagogy, both for classroom instruction and for general knowledge and learning in manufacturing engineering technology. MERC Online seeks qualified resources from educators in universities, 2-year colleges, vocational schools and high schools, and from industry professionals. Submitted materials may be original, or recommendations of other materials are also welcome. Resources can include textbooks, modules, learning objects, learning activities, case studies, presentations, white papers, videos, etc. Resources must be relevant to manufacturing. Please click here to see the descriptions of the MERC Online manufacturing classifications. A link for submitting materials or recommendations is at the bottom of this page. Evaluation Guidelines Each submitted resource is evaluated by a subject matter expert (evaluator) from that field. Exceptions to this are resources that have been previously peer reviewed, such as textbooks, conference white papers, or journal articles. Resources are rated on technical quality, innovativeness, adoptability, and technical ease of use. Resources submitted for the classification of manufacturing curriculum, instructional design, and novel pedagogy are evaluated based on the quality of instructional design. Submitters are contacted by MERC Online staff, and must provide a copy of the material for the evaluation. An acceptance email will be sent to the author after the resource has been added to the MERC Online database. If the material is not accepted, the submitter is contacted directly. Manuscript Requirements The Manufacturing Education Resource Center (MERC Online) is an online resource center designed specifically for the manufacturing engineering technology profession. Whenever possible, resource submissions should be electronic so that a preview from the MERC website can be provided. Resources can be distributed by the author or by the distributor for the National Center for Manufacturing Education (NCME), with prior agreement from the NCME. The submitter may decide the cost of the resource, may maintain the copyright, and may choose the format for distribution. Common formats for distribution are electronic files, CD files, and hard copy documents. Thank you for your interest in MERC Online. Please click here to submit your educational material or recommendation. You will be contacted shortly. |
